Marami na siguro ang nagiging curious kung ano ba talaga ang Bitcoin and ano ang gamit nito. But we have to take note na maraming klase ng cryptocurrency available sa market ngayon like BTC, ETH, Dogecoin, at kung anu-ano pa. Do they all have the same purpose, or iba-iba ba ang paraan nang paggamit nila?

Although there are similarities among cryptocurrencies, mas marami pa rin ang pagkakaiba nila. This article will tackle what BTC is and its differences from other digital currencies.

What is BTC?

BTC was developed in 2009 with the initial purpose of being used as a digital currency and store of value. Although hindi ito ang pinaka unang attempt at making a digital currency, ito na marahil ang pinaka successful at pinaka sikat ngayon. BTC is an abbreviation of Bitcoin, and mas tumatak sa maraming tao ang term na ito. Through the years, BTC has gained popularity since maraming nag-akala na ito lamang ang klase ng cryptocurrency. It was so famous that in 2017, its price rose to $20,000 per Bitcoin from its mere price of a penny in the early 2010s. As of March 2022, ang presyo ng isang BTC is P2,387.711.73 pesos.

Difference from other cryptocurrencies

BTC was initially conceptualized as a currency na puwede mag-facilitate ng transaction online. Unlike Dogecoin na ginawa as a meme or satire due to Bitcoin’s rising popularity, mas seryoso ang purpose ng BTC. It came out as the most favored among other coins. It is also one of the easiest to access and buy, and even storing it is not a problem. Existing platforms such as Paypal or Coins.ph provide full support in holding BTC.

Ang issuance ng BTC ay may limit na 21 million. This makes it attractive for traders since tumataas ang value kapag ang demand ay umaakyat sa current limit nito. This is unlike ETH, which has no limits on its coin production though it has a fixed issuance schedule.
